I am thrilled to be partnering with Aaron Sanders Head for this special Sashiko stitching workshop!

Participants will learn the basic stitches and patterns of Sashiko stitching, along with a brief history behind Sashiko stitching and its origins as a decorative utilitarian stitch. After learning the basic rules of Sashiko, participants will then be encouraged encourage to bend those rules and develop their own stitching voice.

Students are provided with naturally dyed fabric for stitching on, along with Sashiko thread and other naturally dyed thread for stitching with, and students will leave with a 4-patch sampler wall-hanging of Sashiko patterns.

After learning the framework and basic patterns, students can wander through the farm and stitch in a peaceful spot by the creek or in a rocking chair on the front porch.

Students are also encouraged to bring a textile, home good or article of clothing that could use some hand-stitched embellishment. Denim clothing, linen accessories and any medium-weight home good are perfect for this.

*Please note that a $5 material fee will be collected the day of the workshop to account for beautiful naturally-dyed thread that we will be using during the workshop.
