Workshops

Thanks for stopping by! Stay in touch as this page is continuously updated with Workshop opportunities.

My goal at Fiber Farm is to provide a first hand glimpse of sustainable + creative endeavors happening here on the Cumberland Plateau.

Each workshop is specifically designed to teach you a particular skill so that you may go out and make, mend, and/or create; building upon the knowledge you gained during our time together.

Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions!

~10:00 AM - 4:00 PM  [CST]

Join me on the farm for a day of block printing with natural inks. Feel free to drop in at any point in the day and learn how to create a stamp out of multiple types of recycled + natural materials and a demonstration of turning various types of dye into ink.

Throughout the day I will be working on several projects and collaborations. Please feel free to bring some fabric you feel like sprucing up and anything that you think could create nice texture on cloth.

I will also have materials on hand for making your own “blocks”.

Processes that will be taking place throughout the day:

Ink Making-demonstration of thickening various natural dye vats to create usable printing ink

Block Making- My favorite blocks are made from cut up drink koozies and glued onto cardboard. I will have extra materials on hand, but please feel free to bring your own to experiment with.

Printing - Feel free to bring your fabric stash (natural fibers work best) and explore ways to give it new life by adding some pattern / texture. (I will have extra fabric on hand)

Embellishment - I will have some stitching thread available as well for anyone who would like to stitch any type of embellishment onto their fabric.

This is the perfect opportunity for fiber artists, textile designers, and fellow creatives to get a glimpse into block printing with natural materials and a unique look at creating texture with everyday objects.

**Please note that we will not be completing a project from start to finish during our time together. This workshop is to serve as a starting point that will hopefully inspire and equip all participants with the basic foundation to continue experimenting and development of their ideas.

Show up when you can and stay as long as you like. This is a very laid back demonstration with the main goal of providing an opportunity for anyone to come and enjoy printing on cloth.

The location for this gathering is in the back pasture in the lean-to by the barn. We will be working outside in the company of a humble herd of curious critters.

Join us as we continue to add to the rich history of this gathering space while enjoying the company of like minds and fresh ideas.

**Please wear clothing you don't mind to get dirty.

*All are welcome, no previous experience is necessary

*Due to the time intensive preparation that is required, all workshop sales are final.

Tickets may be transferred to another attendee in case of any last minute changes in plans.
